To celebrate Trevella Park’s 50th anniversary, we are aiming to
plant 1,000 trees and shrubs across our park to improve it for
wildlife and make your stay even more enjoyable. We would like you
to join us in this celebration to mark 50 years of quality service.
Trevella Park’s commitment to the environment…
Trevella Parks commitment to the environment is unquestioned,
holding The David Bellamy Conservation award, Gold standard for the
past ten years and more recently the Green Tourism Business Scheme
award Silver standard. Trevella Park is always striving to be more
environmentally sustainable and lower its environmental impact,
being particularly keen to improve the park as a haven for wildlife.
With climate change now an ever-present challenge, our woodlands are
more precious than ever as they extract carbon dioxide, a greenhouse
gas from the atmosphere turning it into oxygen for the world to
breathe. You can help us increase the woodland areas on the park by
donating one of the 1000 trees and shrubs we will be planting in
partnership with Cornwall Wildlife Trust and Duchy College.
The donation costs just £10 which will cover not only the tree or
shrub but will also contribute to other conservation projects in
Cornwall by being donated to Cornwall Wildlife Trust.
Your gift will ensure that future generations will enjoy the
woodland and wildlife habitats we are fortunate to have on the park,
and to show our appreciation you will receive a certificate of
adoption.
A Step back in time…how Trevella Park first began….
Founders, Edgar and Trixie Mitchell started their caravanning
journey by taking their family holidays in a caravan near Portreath.
At the end of the first summer the caravan was brought back to
Trevella and the following year they decided to let it out to
friends. One year later, 1958, there were four caravans and Edgar
told Trixie they ought to apply for a licence!
With few caravan and camping parks in the county one local recalls
thinking they really had `lost the plot.’ Even Mr. Benny, Trixie’s
father, is clearly remembered as having told them both, that it
would be much better to spend money on good bullocks rather then
build a toilet block!
However 50 years on, that foresight is now Trevella Park, a very
successful 5 Star Holiday Park, holders of many local and national
awards.
Help us celebrate this story of success by adopting a tree
or shrub today!
