04. Find a Creepy Crawly
Where: in the woods at Trevella Park
Use our Adventurer’s Guide to encourage your tots to find creepy crawlies in the undergrowth, scuttling around trees and through leaves on the ground.
Many only come out at night, so try looking under logs and rocks and in cracks and crevices to find them, but remember to put things back so the insects can keep using them.
The best way to catch a creepy crawly is to get them to walk onto a plastic spoon or a piece of paper, and then you could put them into a small clear container to see them close up – fill it with dead leaves and grass so they feel at home.
When you have finished checking out your creepy crawly put them back where you found them so they can carry on with their day! Make a note of what you’ve seen in the Adventurer’s Guide.
To help get you started why not join one of Trevella’s Ranger sessions during the school summer holidays. You could even learn how to make a Bug Hotel for the creepy crawlies! Ask at reception for more details.
